The Tunnel

Hi Fusion parents, caregivers, students and everyone in between. I've been trying to figure out what to say that will make things better or easier for you as you navigate these weird moments in life. But everything I thought of just felt fake... so in between kids fighting downstairs, constant checking facebook to see what others around the country are doing, making sure my house is clean from germs, and the new stresses that these days bring...I've come up with this.

What a difference a week makes!

Last week we were all excited about a spring break from school and today we are on an extended spring break that is filled with fear, uncertainty and anxiety.

What a difference a week makes!

When I lived in Philly we would drive to Pittsburgh to visit my husband's family. On the 5-6 hour drive there are a few tunnels that we would go through. Long & dimly lit tunnels dug through the Pocono mountains. Our family played this game of holding our breath once we entered the tunnel to see who could hold their breath the longest. And as we drove, our lungs would be near to bursting as we got close to the "light at the end of the tunnel." And the whole van would explode as we gulped in large amounts of air to fill our lungs as we shot through to the light!

We are in the dark tunnel right now. Holding our breath as we wait to see the "light at the end of the tunnel".

I know there are real fears out there. Some that don't even have to do with this stupid virus! Jobs lost or cut back, kids at home who are already bored, and just the uncertainty in general.

I have pushed down fear daily since last Friday. Gotta be strong for my kids. Gotta have the right things to say to my mom. What if we lose our jobs, what if my neighbor gets sick, what if my friends and family out east gets sick, what if, what if, what if...

STOP

CALM DOWN

I'M IN CONTROL says God.

God speaks to me in my morning prayers and through my time spent in the bible. He brings his promises of peace, comfort and joy in these difficult circumstances.

We always look for Light in dark circumstances. Jesus is The Light that overcomes all darkness. John 8:12 “ I am the Light of the world. If you follow Me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you’ll have the Light that leads to life.”

I challenge you during this time to dig into the word of God! Cry out to him with prayer. I'm here if you need to talk, you need to vent or cry.
